Mr. Kainan Tang is a Venture Partner of The Hina Group. Prior to joining Hina, Mr. Tang was an independent consultant on various IPO and M&A deals in Beijing and Hong Kong, for companies such as Xinwei Telecom, China.com，ChinaLotSynergy and Acctrue Technology.  In Beijing, Kainan also served as the Vice President of Business Development at Topsec Holding’s Limited, where he led both the company’s IPO and M&A efforts.  In New York City, Mr. Tang was a consultant at Avenue Capital LLC, providing project valuation, business planning and market entry advice for China-related investments.  In addition to high-profile consultancy, Mr. Tang has a strong background for management in large-scale US firms, including at TIAA-CREF in New York City, one of the world’s largest private pension management firms, where he started and directed the Client Information and Marketing Analysis Group.  Prior to TIAA-CREF, Mr. Tang was Vice President at Merril Lynch’s Private Client Headquarters in Princeton, New Jersey, managing an information and analysis team for Marketing and Strategic Planning. 

Mr. Tang’s extensive consulting and financial service background is coupled with successful entrepreneurial skills and political savvy.  In 2000, Mr. Tang was President and founder of Princetel, Inc. in Princeton, New Jersey, an R&D manufacturer of fiber-optic modules and components.  His initiatives as President included the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary in Beijing.  Mr. Tang also has experience in Washington DC as an Economist for the Economic Policy Institute, conducting and presenting research to various administrative and congressional figures, including former Secretary of Treasury Robert Rubin and Economic Adviser to the President, Laura Tyson.

Mr. Tang holds an MA from Penn State University in Econometrics and an MA from Peking University in International Economics.  He also has experience as a Staff Research Assistant in the Economics Department of Princeton University.
